Underbathwater
Water covers some 71 percent of our planet’s surface, which means there are a lot of places where underwater photography can exist. But that doesn’t mean it has to be outside. For the past two years, dive suit manufacturer Fourth Element has been running an "Underbathwater Photographer of the Year” competition to compensate for the loss of opportunity from the coronavirus lockdowns. This year’s winner in the professional category was Mikko Paasi, a Thailand-based Finnish diver who participated in 2018’s Thai cave rescue. He composed his photo in a hotel bathroom in Jakarta during quarantine, using modeling clay, towels, bathrobes, face masks, his daughter's diapers, cocktail stirrers, and some watercolor paint.
